What is Separation Anxiety?
Dear Parents,
As we embark on a new school journey, the concept of Separation Anxiety becomes real. It’s timeless experience that countless children encounter during their initial days of schooling.
Leaving their comfort zone and entering a whole new world is usually a traumatic experience for both children and Parents.
Babies and toddlers can become more anxious when their parents leave them as they are still learning that this separation is only temporary.
Have you ever thought, how to overcome Separation Anxiety(SA)?
Here are few tips to overcome SA:
- A relaxed parent leads to a relaxed child. The less you make an issue out of the crying and separation, the less time the child will take to settle down
- A simple reassurance works wonders, always say "mommy and daddy will always come back
- Talk to them about all interesting things they did yesterday at school. *Before you leave your child at school, be lovingly firm
- Once you say goodbye, avoid returning for additional goodbyes. * Last but not the least, read books about going to school like Arthur goes to school, Kindergarten Kids, The Kissing Hand and Owl Babies
